Inspiration: 
"Traveling to Panama, I visited this island, which can only be reached by boat. It was so small you could walk around it in a few minutes. There were a few structures where some members of the Embera Tribe lived simply. There was an island next to it inhabited by apes. If you went to the edge of Isla Embera and sat quietly, you could hear the apes on their island. I remember looking back from the boat as we left the island and this painting is my memory of that."

Artist Bio

Elizabeth Larose is a contemporary artist born in Thibodaux, Louisiana, and practicing in New Orleans. She creates abstract and abstract landscape paintings primarily with acrylics and gouache on canvas. Elizabeth is a traveler and hiker and has lived in India, Colombia, Turkey and several major cities in the U.S. The forests, lakes, oceans and vistas from mountain tops she has encountered serve as her muses. The Erato of her existence is New Orleans. That and a rich inner life are her inspiration.

My technique, developed over years of painting, involves light, subtle yet deep layers of color.
