Love Is All You Need

Caroline Alterman is a New Orleans-based artist best known for her work in mixed-media, collage and abstract art. Born and raised in Louisiana, Caroline has been a nurse for most of her life. Caring for and connecting with people remains central to her purpose. While she will always remain a nurse at heart, Caroline has followed her calling as an artist.  Her textured, mixed-media pieces are an homage to the complex beauty found in nature. Her distinctive, vibrant style is an expression of the atmosphere indigenous to her home, as well as the striking details of the world that capture her eye wherever she may be. Caroline takes inspiration from the everyday, often working with found materials, acrylic paint and beer labels. Her work has an organic, botanical feel—at times a reflection of a state of mind that comes to life upon creating.

I will have a cup of coffee, meditate, clear my head, and let my creativity flow. Overall, I work from my intuition. It is different every time and varies,  if I am painting, I may start with painting a word, quote, or symbol that’s meaningful to me. If I am collaging, I may cover the entire surface first or just dive in!
